1-on-1 Mentorship

The Work
Continues

For coaches who are ready to go deeper.

The Premise

There is no fixed syllabus. The curriculum emerges from the coach in front of me. Their context, their questions, their coaching environment, their values. I have the library. They have the questions.

Some months that means readings and reflection. Some months that means examining video of your coaching. Some months that means sitting with a single idea until it changes how you see the room. A lot of it involves writing. I keep a deep journaling practice myself, and a big part of this work is getting you to trust your own thoughts and creativity on the page before you try to execute them on the floor.

Mentorship is where ideas meet your actual coaching life, your actual athletes, your actual decisions under pressure. It is slower, more personal, and it compounds over time in ways a course or a credential cannot.

The Building Blocks

Five Domains I Draw From

Which ones we engage and when depends entirely on you.

01

Values & Identity

Occupational socialization. The VOI-SF. Examining where your coaching came from. The teachers, the cultures, the environments that shaped you before you had any say in the matter. Understanding the distance between what you say you value and what you actually do in practice.

We return to the VOI-SF over months. Not to grade you. To track the gap between your philosophy and your practice as it narrows, or as it stubbornly persists.

02

Pedagogical Craft

Teaching styles and the Mosston spectrum. Pedagogical tact and restraint. Environment design. Metzler's instructional models. Athlete-centered and coach-centered approaches. Practice design. Knowing when to step in and when to let it breathe.

You send me video of your sessions. I ask you what you were thinking, what you were responding to, what you chose not to do. We look at whether the style you default to is actually serving the outcome you want.

03

The Human Side

The performer and the human. Reading the room. Holding complexity and contradiction. The cultures that build coaches and the cultures that break them. Burnout, survival, and the cost of trying to control every variable.

Some months this is the only building block we touch. Because it is the one that determines whether you stay in this profession or leave it.

04

Movement Philosophy & Practice

Strength and conditioning science. Emergent movement culture. Somatic practices. Dance. Gymnastics. Ecological dynamics. I have been across a wide landscape of traditions and practices, deeply skilled in some, inspired by others, always learning. The through-line is thinking in themes and qualities and pulling from whatever serves the person in front of you. Vectors, patterns, tools. It can be complex and it can be beautifully simple.

We look at why you program the way you program and whether your programming philosophy actually matches your coaching philosophy.

05

Professional Development

How you position yourself. How you communicate your work. How you build something sustainable without selling your soul to the credentialing machine or the content treadmill.

We talk about the credentialing landscape honestly. What is worth pursuing, what is gatekeeping. How to build a professional identity that attracts the right people without requiring you to become someone you are not.
